Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the oldest, most astounding and important ghats that, located at the bank of the river Ganga very near to the old Vishwanath Temple in Kashi. The unvarnished meaning of the Dashashwamedh is the Ghat which means riverfront of the ten sacrificed horses; where dash meaning 10, ashwa meaning horses and medh meaning sacrifice.
There are two old beliefs regarding the Ghat, the first one goes like this; Lord Brahma had created the Dashashwamedh Ghat in order to welcome The Divine Lord Shiva and the second one is that Lord Brahma had sacrificed ten horses in a yajna (prayer ceremony) here. The Dashashwamedh Ghat was reconstructed by the Bajirao Pesava I after it was taken down by the Mughals previously. It was later reconstructed by the Queen of the Indore, Ahilyabai Holkar in the year 1774, after again being brought down by the Mughals.
The Ghat is very famous for the Agni Pooja which is held here daily in the evening by an assembly of the pandits who are devotees of Lord Shiva, River Ganges, Surya i.e, The Sun, Agni i.e, Fire and as well as the whole universe. Tourists and visitors can see the magnificent and colourful riverfront view. A group of pandits will always be seen performing religious ceremonies at this Ghat. It is great to see the real charm of this Ghat in the evening when The Ganga Aarti is performed here. This ghat has become the religious place for the devotees, followers and pilgrims for many many decades now and a great tourism place for tourists as well. - Listing Details...

Trying to find the best yacht sailing locations in the world? The French Riviera has no shortage of trendy outposts, but St Tropez earns extra points for its recent revamp along Pampelonne Beach. YachtCharterFleet had the pleasure of heading down to St Tropez last year to check it out; and came back with some first-hand insight into the new (eco-friendly) beach club scene. After a morning exploring the pink streets of St Tropez, cruise over to Pampelonne in time for lunch. Be sure to book ahead for Club 55, the most iconic venue in the Cote d'Azur, and try and reserve a coveted table in the later lunchtime slot if you're looking to rub shoulders with Hollywood heavyweights and the A-list elite. For some post-lunch entertainment, head to Verde Beach. Expect blast-from-the-past beats and dancing on the tables, as the St Tropez in-crowd transform Verde Beach into the most happening party in Pampelonne. Head back to the main port for dinner- L'Opera has got the 'the dinner and a show' concept down to an art.
Yachting tip of the day: When I was looking to buy an used boat a few years back, I was horrified at the state of many of the yachts I came across. Do people try to sell their homes with a pile of rusty motor parts strewn around the front room or a heap of soaking bedding moldering in the master bedroom? Speaking with brokers about this, the better ones refuse to keep boats in slum condition on their books. Others, however, don't seem to care. Presentation matters if you want to get anywhere near your asking price. Even if you can't be fussed to have varnish looking like the hatch pictured above, at least spend a weekend tidying up. Buyers will think you seamanlike, and your boat will both have a flying start and shift every time in preference to that same model in the next berth offered by the Dumpsters' Union.
Another beautiful Greek sailing route takes you through the less famous Sporades islands which are located off the East coast. There are eleven islands in total but if you start at Volos or Skiathos, you've got a good chance of visiting quite a few. Known as the emerald of the Aegean, expect rich vegetation, unspoiled green-blue waters and a more traditional way of life. Highlights include the picturesque island of Skopelos, the party-island Skiathos and the Marine Park of Alonissos which is dotted with secret coves.
